The Moroccan national futsal team, the Atlas Lions, will commence competition at the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan next Monday, with the tournament concluding on October 6.
The team will initiate its group-stage campaign with a match against Tajikistan on Monday, September 16.
The Atlas Lions will next face Panama on September 19 before taking on Portugal on September 22.
The roster of players selected by Coach Hicham Dguig features Abdekrim Anbia, Mohamed Cheridou, Youssef Bensellam, Anas Dahani, Anas El Ayyane, Othmane El Idrissi, Soufiane Bourite, Ismaïl Amazal, Soufiane Charraoui, Othmane Boumezou, Soufiane El Mesrar, Khalid Bouzid, Idriss Raïs El Fenni, and Mohamed Kamal.
They recently played several friendly matches in advance of the tournament, facing off against Spain, Venezuela, and the Netherlands.
This participation will mark the Moroccan futsal team’s fourth consecutive World Cup appearance, following previous entries in Thailand, Colombia, and Lithuania, in 2012, 2016, and 2020, respectively.
