Morocco’s U18 men’s basketball team defeated Angola 61-45 in the quarterfinals, advancing to the semifinals of Afrobasket 2024 in Pretoria, South Africa.
The Moroccan team delivered a strong performance from the outset, overcoming Angola, one of the top-performing teams in Africa, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
“The players approached the match positively, building on their previous success against the host country, South Africa,” MAP stated.
The achievement marks Morocco’s first time reaching this stage of the competition.
Other quarterfinal matchups feature Egypt playing Senegal, Rwanda vs Cameroon, and Mali against Nigeria.
