Moroccan athletes achieved remarkable success at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, winning 15 medals and setting two world records.
Hamid El Aouni, president of the Moroccan Federation of Sports for the Disabled (FRMSPSH), praised the athletes’ performance.
The Moroccan delegation arrived at Rabat-Salé airport on Tuesday night, following their impressive showing at the international event.
Moroccan athletes excelled across multiple disciplines, with the team securing three gold, six silver, and six bronze medals.
El Aouni highlighted that the athletes’ success was the result of continuous preparation and hard work throughout the year.
The Federation president noted that King Mohammed VI’s congratulatory messages were a source of pride and motivation.
Paralympic champion Aymane El Haddaoui won gold in the 400m (T47) and bronze in the 100m (T47) events at the games.
El Haddaoui expressed his hope for even better results in future competitions, building on the team’s recent achievements.
Silver medalist Ayoub Sadni, also in the 400m (T47), said Moroccan athletes had proudly represented their country in Paris.
Sadni acknowledged the motivational impact of King Mohammed VI’s messages, driving athletes to perform their best.
Though disappointed he couldn’t retain his Paralympic title, Sadni expressed optimism for the future of Moroccan parasports.
Morocco’s participation in Paris was its 10th at the Paralympic Games, following previous appearances dating back to Seoul 1988.
With 15 medals in Paris, Morocco’s total Paralympic medal count now stands at 53, including 19 gold, 17 silver, and 17 bronze.
The Moroccan delegation in Paris comprised 38 athletes who competed in para-athletics, tennis, powerlifting, taekwondo, cycling, and football.
