Several provinces in Morocco are expected to experience severe thunderstorms with hail and strong winds from Tuesday through Thursday, according to a new weather report from the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
Heavy rainfall, ranging from 30 to 40 millimeters, is forecasted for Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab and Aousserd, the report indicates.
Meanwhile, from Wednesday at 6 a.m. to Thursday at 6 a.m., similar severe weather conditions will affect the provinces of Figugig, Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Taourirt, Boulemane, Midelt, and Errachidia.
The alert comes amid ongoing severe flooding in southern and southeastern Morocco. On Monday, the country’s interior minister reported that the death toll from the floods has risen to 18, with four individuals still missing.
The casualties have been recorded across several provinces, with Tata in the south reporting the highest number of deaths at 10.
