The Moroccan para-athlete Aymane El Haddaoui won the gold medal in the men’s 400m (T47) category at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, clocking a new world record time of 46.65 seconds.
El Haddaoui surpassed his fellow competitor Ayoub Sadni, who claimed the silver medal with a time of 47.16 seconds.
Sadni, the defending champion and former record holder for the Paralympic Games, finished in second place at the event with a minimal time differential.
The Brazilian competitor, Thomaz Ruan de Moraes, secured the bronze medal after completing the race in 47.97 seconds.
El Haddaoui also secured the bronze medal in the 100m event at the games, thus becoming a multiple medalist.
Morocco now ranks 36th on the medal table with a tally of two gold, five silver, and five bronze medals.
