Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) officers stationed at Casablanca’s Airport, Mohammed V, apprehended a 37-year-old Franco-Turkish suspect on Friday, against whom an international arrest warrant had been issued, security sources reported.
The suspect arrived on a flight from Turkey. After verifying the Interpol database, the police identified the individual as the subject of a “red notice” issued at the behest of the Interpol’s bureau in Paris for serving a prison sentence.
The suspect is accused of involvement in a criminal network engaged in drug trafficking, aggravated theft, possession of stolen goods, physical assault, and acts of arson on French territory, police sources stated.
He is also wanted for driving a vehicle without a license while under the influence, failing to comply with French police officers, and intentionally hitting a police officer.
He was remanded into police custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
The Interpol Bureau in Rabat notified the relevant French authorities of his detention before initiating extradition procedures.
