Morooco’s Ministry of Equipment and Water announced on Sunday the immediate deployment of substantial resources to restore traffic following severe flooding that hit 17 provinces in Morocco.
“Nearly 200 personnel, equipped with 96 earth-moving machines, have been deployed across several provinces and regions in Morocco, including Zagora, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Tata, Midelt, Taroudant, Guelmim-Assa Zag, Figuig, and Chichaoua,” the Ministry stated.
As of Sunday, at 3 p.m., 22 roadways have been reopened, including four national roads, seven regional roads, and 11 provincial roads.
The work to reopen the remaining 16 roads, still inaccessible due to flooding, is ongoing.
Tata, particularly affected by the disaster, is a priority for the Ministry’s response efforts given the region’s high death toll and damage registered.
