The Moroccan para-athlete Azeddine Nouiri secured the silver medal in the F34 shot put on Saturday at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, held at the Stade de France, replicating success achieved at the previous Games in Tokyo.
Nouiri attained a distance of 11.70 meters on his fourth attempt, setting a new African record.
He finished just a single centimeter behind the new Paralympic champion, Mauricio Valencia of Colombia, and Jordan’s Ahmad Hindi claimed the bronze with a throw of 11.66 meters.
Morocco currently ranks 47th on the medal table, bolstered by a gold medal from Mouncef Bouja in the 400m (T12). The country’s tally also includes silver medals from Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi in the 1500m (T13), Abdelillah Gani in the shot put (F53), Youssra Karim in the discus (F41), and Azeddine Nouiri in the shot put (F34).
Morocco has earned bronze medals through Aymane El Haddaoui in the 100m (T47), Ayoub Adouich and Rajae Akermach in para-taekwondo (K44), and Saida Amoudi in the shot put (F34).
