Moroccan tennis player Malak El Allami achieved a historic qualification for the US Open Juniors women’s doubles final, playing with her Norwegian partner, Emily Sartz-Lunde, on Friday, the Royal Moroccan Tennis Federation reported.
El Allami, a rising star in Moroccan tennis, prevailed in the doubles semi-final of the tournament, securing a 6-3, 6-4 victory against the Czech duo of Tereza Krejcova and Eliska Tichackova.
She is now the first Moroccan competitor to reach this stage of a major tournament. According to the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) singles and doubles standings, the prodigy is currently ranked 981st and 734th respectively.
The final match is scheduled for Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and will see El Allami and Sartz-Lunde playing against German competitor Julia Stusek and Czech competitor Julie Pastikova.
