The Tangier police, in collaboration with the Territory Surveillance Agency (DGST), seized 1.55 kilograms of cocaine and arrested two men in the Beni Makada neighborhood on Thursday evening, security sources reported.
The two suspects are accused of drug possession and trafficking in psychotropic substances. One of the suspects allegedly already has a criminal record for drug-related offenses.
Law enforcement officers arrested the primary suspect red-handed in possession of 1.55 kilograms of cocaine and a sum of money believed to be proceeds from his criminal activity. He was already wanted on similar charges in the cities of Kenitra and Tangier.
Further investigations led to the identification and arrest of a second suspect, found in possession of an additional sum of cash suspected to be linked to drug trafficking.
The suspects are now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, which is looking at who may also be connected to these criminal activities, with an eye on regional and global links.
