Moroccan international football player Eliesse Ben Seghir was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for August, by leading audio equipment manufacturer, Bang & Olufsen, his club AS Monaco announced in a press release on Friday.
AS Monaco supporters voted for him after his impressive performances, particularly his crucial role in the first three games of the season.
He received the MVP designation following a vote on social media, in which 60% of fans voted in his favor. He outperformed his fellow teammates, Takumi Minamino (35% of the votes) and Phillip Köhn (5% of the total).
Ben Seghir contributed significantly to AS Monaco’s 3-0 win over Barcelona in the Trophée Gamper match, the press release reported.
He continued to demonstrate his abilities in subsequent games against Saint-Étienne, Lyon, and Lens, maintaining his starting position and making a significant impact.
Ben Seghir’s standout moment came at the Lyon match, where he scored after a strategic combination with Maghnes Akliouche, securing Monaco’s victory.
The player’s abilities to recover the ball, provoke fouls, and generate scoring opportunities have made him a pivotal contributor to the team’s success this season.
His six shots, three of which resulted in goals, combined with two center passes, five tackles, and three recoveries, earned him the MVP title, the club said.
The footballer, who was awarded a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 with Morocco U23 team, has also been selected to participate in the qualifying rounds for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 which will take place in Morocco.
