Over 30 people were admitted to Ben Msik hospital in Casablanca on Wednesday for food poisoning after consuming a dish known as “Miracle Bread” at a local establishment in the Ben M’sik area.
All affected individuals were immediately transferred to the hospital for urgent care. Security sources said that the health condition of the patients is stable, with no one of them requiring intensive care.
The hospital director stated in a press interview that the food poisoning was linked to a sandwich meal and warned that the number of cases might increase in the coming hours.
The food poisoning incident follows another in Azla, near Tetouan in northern Morocco, where 20 children were admitted to the hospital on Friday for food poisoning after eating dinner at a fast-food outlet.
Medical reports confirmed that the poisoning was due to consuming spoiled food that did not meet health safety standards. Local authorities in Martil, northern Morocco, temporarily also closed three fast-food and snack outlets following multiple health violations that were identified by an inspection committee.
