The global lithium battery market is projected to reach an astounding 4 billion dollars by 2030, celebrated Moroccan scientist and inventor Rachid Yazami told the audience on Wednesday during the 2024 International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Renowned for his pioneering work in lithium battery technology which powers electric vehicles (EVs), Yazami emphasized that the future lies in clean energy, with lithium batteries playing a pivotal role in this vision.
Often referred to as “the father of the lithium battery,” Yazami highlighted that despite significant advances in battery technology, further improvements are needed in areas such as safety, reducing charging times, and increasing the range of EVs on a single charge.
Yazami has made significant contributions to the development of EV batteries, including inventing the graphite anode used in lithium-ion battery cells. He has published over 250 scientific research papers, and his work has been instrumental in enhancing battery charging speeds for both electronic devices and electric vehicles.
Delivering his speech, entitled “When Arab Geniuses Drive the Advancement of Global Communication,” Yazami called for empowering Arab youth by fostering their creativity and providing them with the necessary support to realize their ambitions.
With 250 featured speakers, the IGCF focuses on the importance of innovative communication in response to global developments. This year’s forum addressed topics including the latest professional standards in government communication and collaborative dialogue with opinion leaders, heads of government institutions, and other officials.
