Mouncef Bouja won gold for Morocco in the 400-meter T12 race at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on Thursday.
Bouja completed the race in 48.62 seconds, securing first place, ahead of American Noah Malone and Tunisian Rouay Jebabli.
Malone took silver with a time of 49.35 seconds, while Jebabli sealed bronze with a time of 49.56 seconds.
Bouja had qualified for the final by winning his elimination heat in 48.98 seconds, leading the competition since Wednesday.
Other Moroccan athletes won bronze and silver in various events, making Bouja’s win the nation’s first gold and eighth overall medal.
Medalists include Ayman El Haddaoui, Ayoub Addouech, Rajaa Akrmach, Saida Amoudi, Fatima Zahra El Idrissi, Abdellah Kani, and Yousra Karim.
