“Arab Weather” forecasts indicate a humid tropical wave will move north towards Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya this week.
Starting on Wednesday, the tropical wave will bring a significant influx of moisture, intensifying by Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, according to Arabia Weather.
Forecasts predict cumulonimbus clouds will form, increasing the likelihood of thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall in these regions.
The disturbance may also bring strong descending winds, causing dust waves and reducing visibility in some areas.
The tropical wave’s impact is expected to continue into early next week, with ongoing thunderstorm activity with varying intensity.
Weather experts warn that the formation of dense thunderclouds will lead to widespread and intense weather conditions across the Maghreb.
Several areas in southeastern Morocco experienced severe flooding overnight on Friday following heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The intense weather has caused significant rises in water levels in Azilal, Tinghir, and Ouarzazate, leading to substantial damage to infrastructure.
