Moroccan para-athlete Youssra Karim secured a silver medal in the F41 discus throw on Wednesday at the Paris Paralympics, throwing a distance of 36.46 meters on her final attempt.
Karim narrowly missed the gold medal, losing to Tunisian athlete Raoua Tlili who threw her discus 36.55 meters on the second attempt, just 0.09m further. Ecuadorian Estefany Gisela Lopez Macas claimed the bronze medal with a throw of 30.89 meters, setting a South American record.
Moroccan competitor Hayat El Garaa missed gaining the podium with a throw of 29.74 meters.
Overall, Morocco now is in the 55th position in the medal table with seven medals.
Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi and Abdelillah Gani won silver medals in the 1500m (T13) and shot put (F53), respectively. Aymane El Haddaoui also earned silver in the 100m (T47), while Ayoub Adouich and Rajae Akermach received bronze in para-taekwondo (K44). Saida Amoudi clinched a bronze in the F34 Shot Put.
