Panathinaikos has officially signed Azzedine Ounahi on loan for the season, with the agreement completed on Tuesday. The Greek club paid a loan fee of €500,000 and will cover his full salary.
Shortly after arriving in Greece via private flight, Ounahi’s transfer was announced. Panathinaikos has the option to buy him at the end of the season for €11.5 million.
After finalizing his move, the 24-year-old midfielder traveled back to Morocco to join his national team.
Panathinaikos stated, “PAE Panathinaikos announces the loan, with a purchase option, of Azzedine Ounahi from Marseille! The Moroccan international will bolster our squad for the European Conference League matches.”
Born on April 19, 2000, in Casablanca, Morocco, Ounahi began his career at Raja Casablanca Academy before moving to the Mohammed VI Academy. In 2018, he joined Strasbourg in France and was later loaned to Avranches.
Ounahi signed with Angers in 2021, making an immediate impact in Ligue 1. His strong performances earned him a spot on the Morocco national team and a transfer to Marseille in January 2023.
Despite scoring on his Marseille debut and contributing to the Europa League semifinals, Ounahi faced challenges securing a regular starting role. Last season, Marseille was eliminated from the Champions League by Panathinaikos.
Ounahi has 30 caps and 5 goals for Morocco, continuing his role in the national squad.
