Cosco Shipping Lines has opened a new branch in Casablanca, Morocco, marking a significant move to enhance North African trade.
This expansion is part of Cosco’s strategy to support Belt and Road initiatives and expand its business in North and West Africa, wrote news outlet “informa.”
Wang Mingfeng, President of Cosco Shipping (Europe), emphasized North Africa’s importance in global trade with Europe and the world.
He stated, “With the opening of Cosco Shipping Lines (Morocco) in Casablanca, we commit to serving global trade and local societies together.”
Cosco Shipping Lines foresees significant growth potential in Morocco, aiming to strengthen its focus on the region in the coming years.
Headquartered in Shanghai, Cosco Shipping Lines operates nine overseas branches across Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, and other regions.
By December 2023, Cosco Shipping Lines owned and operated 381 container vessels, with a total capacity of approximately 2.1 million TEU (one TEU is equivalent to 38.51 cubic meters).
