Nabila Mounib, a Moroccan left-wing politician and parliament member, criticized Western “double standards” on the Moroccan Sahara issue, arguing that inconsistent Western policies undermine Morocco’s sovereignty and reveal deep-rooted hypocrisy.
According to Mounib, “the West’s approach to the Moroccan Sahara shows a blatant disregard for Morocco’s territorial integrity,” as she stated in an interview with “Sputnik.”
Mounib drew a parallel with the situation in Palestine, noting similar exploitation and political manipulation. She went on to suggest that: “Just as with the Moroccan Sahara, the Palestinian issue suffers from Western biases and exploitation for political gains.”
She argued that developing stronger ties with Russia is crucial for Morocco. “The BRICS group represents a serious opportunity for Morocco to balance its economic position and move beyond Western dominance,” Mounib said.
Mounib criticized the historical relationship between Morocco and Europe as “exploitative.” She suggested that strengthening connections with Russia and China will be beneficial for Morocco.
“Our historical ties with Europe have been unjust, and now it’s time for Morocco to build relationships that reflect fairness and mutual respect,” she underlined.
