Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) convened in Beijing, China on Tuesday.
Launched in 2000, FOCAC is a triennial platform for high-level political coordination, marking a new era of partnership between China and Africa. It has solidified China’s role as a major partner and promoted dialogue and cooperation with African countries.
The assembly enabled Bourita to interact face-to-face with multiple counterparts. These discussions focused on strategies to reinforce peace, stability, and growth in Africa, through active South-South bilateral cooperation and tripartite collaboration with China, following royal directives.
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Senegalese Foreign Minister Yassine Fall, whose country currently holds the rotating co-presidency of FOCAC for Africa, co-chaired the meeting.
The ministers reviewed and adopted the Beijing Declaration and Action Plan, pending finalization by heads of state and government at the FOCAC Summit.
The FOCAC Summit will take place on September 4-6, with the Beijing Declaration and Action Plan to be formally adopted after the event.
