Moroccan international footballer Sofiane Boufal has signed a two-year contract with Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise (USG) until 2026.
The transfer was confirmed by USG on Tuesday, marking Boufal’s move from Qatari club Al-Rayyan after mutual contract termination, on September 2, as announced by the Qatari club.
Boufal, who debuted internationally for Morocco in 2016, played seven matches in the 2022 World Cup, helping Morocco reach the semifinals.
The 30-year-old winger also represented Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019, 2022, and 2024.
USG welcomed Boufal, highlighting his significant contributions to Moroccan football and his experience in top European leagues.
Before joining USG, Boufal’s professional journey included stints at Angers, Lille, Southampton, Celta Vigo, and most recently, Al-Rayyan.
During his last season with Al-Rayyan, Boufal played ten matches, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
Egyptian club Al Ahly had also shown interest in Boufal during this summer transfer window, but they finished recruiting Achraf Dari and Yahia Attiyat Allah
