Several provinces across Morocco are bracing for severe weather conditions today, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
The affected areas include Midelt, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Azilal, Khenifra, and Boulemane.
The forecast predicts 15-25 mm of rain between 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., with thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds expected to accompany the downpour.
The warning comes less than a month after severe weather caused widespread flooding in south-central Morocco, claiming the lives of a mother and her daughter.
The intense rainfall led to significant rises in water levels in Azilal, Tinghir, and Ouarzazate, resulting in substantial damage to infrastructure.
In addition to the human casualties, the heavy rains severely impacted the region’s roadways and agricultural fields. Mudslides have blocked several roads, complicating access for local authorities and emergency responders.
