Marrakech police detained a 59-year-old Bahraini national this afternoon following an international arrest warrant issued by Bahraini authorities related to financial crimes.
The arrest was executed in response to a request from the Arab Communication Division in Manama, which had issued the international notice for the individual’s apprehension. The Bahraini national is accused of issuing substantial checks without sufficient funds to cover them.
After his arrest, the individual was placed under provisional detention by the Moroccan public prosecutor’s office. This detention is part of the extradition process, which will proceed according to Moroccan legal procedures.
This arrest is part of Morocco’s commitment to bolstering international cooperation in security matters. Last month, Moroccan authorities also detained a 31-year-old British citizen on an international warrant for drug trafficking, involving substances such as cocaine, cannabis resin, synthetic drugs, and amphetamines.
