The inter-ministerial commission overseeing the September 08 earthquake reconstruction program held its 11th meeting Monday in Rabat.
The meeting reviewed progress in the reconstruction program across all sectors. Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch emphasized the quick and effective response to the disaster, praising the collective efforts and ongoing sectoral interventions.
The commission reported the issuance of 55,142 reconstruction permits, with work advancing on 49,632 damaged homes.
Efforts to clear debris from 46,352 collapsed buildings are ongoing, with specific solutions for complex cases being developed.
Financial aid has reached 57,805 families, with 20,000 dirhams given to each for reconstruction, totaling 1.2 Bln MAD in support.
The second payment has been given to 20,763 families, the third to 8,813 families, and the fourth to 939 families.
Approximately 1,000 families have completed reconstruction works, with continued efforts needed to encourage the remaining families.
Emergency aid of 2,500 dirhams per month has been provided to 63,862 families, with 11 out of 12 payments completed, totaling 1.6Bln MAD.
The national road N7 is being upgraded over 64 km, with progress reported on segments including Tizi N’Tast and Ouirgane.
Rehabilitation of 42 priority health centers is complete, funded by 168 Mln MAD, covering Marrakech-Safi, Souss-Massa, and Beni Mellal-Khenifra.
Free distribution of 28,000 livestock to farmers affected by the earthquake will end in September, with barley distribution completed for 48,581 farmers.
Repair of 54 km of rural roads is nearly finished, and the restoration of small and medium water infrastructure is at 97% completion.
Water infrastructure repairs continue with a 117 Mln MAD budget, addressing damage to hydrological stations and water networks.
111 schools are ready for the current school year, with 110 more to open this year and 1,287 schools by 2025-2026.
The overall cost of school reconstruction is approximately 3.5 Bln MAD.
238 support requests for damaged tourist facilities were reviewed, with an initial aid of 48 Mln MAD.
Some 1,155 support requests for crafts workshops were considered, with additional support for 105 craftsmen, with an initial aid of 10 Mln MAD.
Restoration of earthquake-damaged archaeological sites is also underway to preserve the national heritage.
The commission remains committed to effective and precise action, adhering to King Mohammed VI’s directives for comprehensive development.
