Morocco’s Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, met with the Republic of Congo’s Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development, and the Congo Basin, Arlette Soudan-Nonault, on Wednesday in Rabat to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in water management and desalination.
The meeting centered on the significance of leveraging innovative technologies in the management and desalination of water resources. The discussions are intended to reinforce bilateral relations between Morocco and the Republic of Congo.
The ministers discussed strategies to enhance collaboration in water resource management, particularly focusing on exchanging “Morocco’s experience and know-how in water sanitization and wastewater treatment,” according to Baraka.
He also highlighted the country’s achievements in this area led by King Mohammed VI, who in his throne day speech last month urged the public and officials to engage in effective management and conservation of the Kingdom’s water resources.
Soudan-Nonault’s visit to Morocco, leading a high-level delegation, is part of an official mission across countries within the Congo Basin Climate Commission (CCBC).
The CCBC, one of three African climate commissions, was established during the First African Summit for Continental Co-Emergence, an initiative spearheaded by King Mohammed VI in Marrakech at the COP22 conference in 2022.
