Celebrity surfer Michael February has released the first installment of his latest “surf edit,” “MOROCCO (SIDE A),” showcasing his skills on the North African coast. The five-minute video, produced by February’s company Spearhead Unlimited and directed by Ian Thurtell, is part of a three-part series scheduled to be released weekly.
The video opens with a simple potter at work and then quickly transitions to February navigating Morocco’s waves with his signature effortless style.
Viewers speculate that the video was shot in Safi, Morocco’s pottery capital that is also known for its legendary waves.
February’s edit follows the footsteps of renowned surfers like Nic Von Rupp, who raved about Morocco’s waves last year.
In a video, Von Rupp and his crew highlighted Taghazout near Agadir as a must-visit for surfers, describing the experience as “legendary” and “fire.” Excited to return to the kingdom, Von Rupp said, “It’s a wrap. Been scoring in Morocco. Good to be back here, it’s been so long.”
February’s “MOROCCO (SIDE A)” sets the tone for the upcoming installments, promising more of Morocco’s iconic surf spots and stunning visuals. It is the first of three installments to be released every Tuesday in the coming weeks.
Morocco’s western coasts, all the way from Safi to Dakhla more than a thousand kilometers to the south, are considered the world’s best and most well-known surfing spots for both beginners and experienced surfers alike, with the best waves from October to April.
