The recent precipitation in Errachidia, southeast Morocco, has positively impacted the Guir-Ziz-Rheris Hydraulic basin; water reserves increased significantly with the total volume received by various dams in the basin reaching 10.01 million cubic meters as of August 26, the Agency for Hydraulic Basin of Guir-Ziz-Rheris (ABHGZR) said.
Rainfall between August 23-26, particularly impacted the provinces of Tinghir, Midelt, and Errachidia, elevating the total volume stored across major dams under the jurisdiction of the Guir-Ziz-Rheris Hydraulic Basin Agency (ABHGZR) to over 98.8 Mln cubic meters.
The Hassan Addakhil Dam saw its reserves rise to 78.23 Mln cubic meters, representing a 25.3% fill rate. The Kadoussa Dam followed with 16.1 Mln cubic meters, while the Timkit and Toudgha dams stored 2.43 Mln cubic meters and 2.4 Mln cubic meters, respectively.
The flood diversion dam at Moulay-Brahim, situated along the Gheris River, proved instrumental in channeling a substantial volume of water to irrigate the Tafilalet plain.
The recent rainfall is anticipated to enhance groundwater levels, reinforce water reserves, and augment the flow of local springs.
