The Morocco U20 women’s national football team defeated the Fiji team 2-0 in a friendly match held on Monday in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Hajar Said opened the scoring for Morocco in the second of the match in the 65th minute, followed by Doha El Madani, who scored 10 minutes before the end of the game.
The match served as the final preparation for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia in 2024.
The friendly match allowed the team to refine its strategies and performance in the lead-up to the forthcoming tournament, according to Morocco’s News Agency (MAP).
“The victory provided the players with a fresh boost of motivation and confidence as they prepare to face tough opponents in the World Cup,” MAP reported.
Morocco has been placed in a competitive group (C) for the international competition, and will be facing Spain — the defending champions — the USA, a three-time champion, and Paraguay.
The players will head to Cali, Colombia, on Tuesday, with their first World Cup match against Paraguay scheduled for September 1 at midnight, Moroccan time.
