Royal Air Maroc (RAM) recalled a flight that had departed from Casablanca for New York on Saturday following an aircraft technical problem that arose shortly after liftoff, local media reported.
A cockpit window on flight AT220 cracked shortly after the flight took off from Mohammed V International Airport on its scheduled flight to New York, only to turn back less than thirty minutes later.
While the crack did not affect the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s control system, according to the same sources, the pilot conducted a precautionary loop over the Atlantic Ocean to ensure the safety of the aircraft and its passengers.
After a brief delay on the ground, the passengers completed the nine-hour journey to New York on a different aircraft of the same type, a Dreamliner, provided by RAM.
The damaged aircraft’s cockpit window was replaced, and the airplane resumed service the same day, media reported.
