Abdeltif Loudyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate for the National Defense Administration met with Marshal Birhanu Jula Gelalcha, Chief of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces on Monday in Rabat, Morocco.
Marshal Gelalcha is on an official visit to Morocco from August 25-29, leading a substantial delegation.
During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the current state of bilateral defense cooperation and explored ways to further strengthen it.
The two parties expressed satisfaction with the existing excellent friendship and cooperation between the two countries and shared ambition to further enhance relations, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
Royal Armed Forces (FAR) Inspector General and Commander of the Southern Zone, Major General Mohammed Berrid also received Marshal Birhanu Jula Gelalcha at the FAR headquarters.
In a working session, the two officials discussed various aspects of their cooperation and welcomed the level of relations between the two counties’ armed forces. They also explored ways to expand cooperation into other areas of mutual interest.
The bilateral relations between Morocco and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, rooted in a rich history, have been revitalized since King Mohammed VI visited Addis Ababa in 2016. These relations are evolving into a strategic partnership to reinforce shared objectives and contribute actively to the development and stability of the African continent.
