Several regions in Morocco are expected to experience thunderstorms, hail, and wind gusts on Sunday, according to a weather alert from the Moroccan General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
The storms could bring 15 to 25 millimeters of rain and are anticipated to occur between 1:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. local time. Affected areas include the provinces of Midelt, Figuig, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Beni Mellal, and Boulemane.
This weekend, Morocco has faced severe weather conditions that have led to flooding, resulting in the death of one woman and leaving another missing.
In addition to the human casualties, the thunderstorms have caused significant damage to infrastructure and private property.
Southeastern Morocco experienced severe flooding overnight on Friday due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, with substantial rises in water levels in Azilal, Tinghir, and Ouarzazate, leading to extensive damage.
