Several regions in Morocco are expected to experience severe thunderstorms and hail on Saturday, according to a weather alert issued by the Moroccan Meteorological Agency (DGM).
Areas including Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, Taza, and Guercif may face intense thunderstorms from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (GMT+1).
Rainfall is projected to range between 15 and 25 millimeters, with the potential for hail and gusty winds in these regions.
Heavy rainfall yesterday led to severe flooding across several cities in southeastern Morocco. The intense weather caused significant rises in water levels in Azilal, Tinghir, and Ouarzazate, resulting in considerable damage to infrastructure.
Videos shared online depict dramatic scenes of town squares submerged in water and vehicles trapped by flooding.
In Tinghir province, Kelaat M’gouna recorded 25 mm of rain, Toudgha El Oulia 20 mm, and Souk Larbaa Dades 18 mm. Meanwhile, Tinghir, and Assoul each received 16 mm, while Ait Hani recorded 10 mm.
In Errachidia, Amellagou saw 30 mm, Tadighoust 18 mm, Errachidia city 16 mm, and Mlaab 10 mm.
