Yemeni-Emirati singer and actress Balqees Ahmed Fathi paid tribute to the traditional Moroccan caftan during her performance in M’diq in the north of Morocco this week.
Taking the stage at the 20th Festival des Plages, Balqees captivated the audience with her vibrant red caftan embellished with yellow gemstones, completing the look with an iconic Fez hat.
A Moroccan band performing Chaabi music accompanied the singer during the concert, at the end of which, in a show of appreciation to her fans, she proudly held up the Moroccan flag.
After the concert, Balqees shared a series of pictures and videos on Instagram where she described the event as a “pivotal” moment in her career, noting the record-breaking attendance of nearly half a million spectators.
“Moroccan audiences should never be underestimated,” she posted.
“All my love and congratulations on the occasion of King Mohammed VI’s birthday—may God protect him—and to the entire Moroccan people for the warm welcome and hospitality at the Beaches Festival,” she wrote.
In closing, Balqees wrote, “Morocco is always amazing! May God grant you greatness, just as you’ve uplifted me. You’ve never fallen short with me, and may God give me the strength to repay the favor.”
