Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, the former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, has shared photos on Instagram of him with his family and friends spending their summer vacation on Morocco’s northern coast.
Qatar’s former Prime Minister’s photos showed him fishing and exploring the picturesque streets of Morocco’s blue city, Chefchaouen.
Al Thani, who is among the world’s wealthiest individuals and a former owner of Qatar Airways, arrived in Morocco from the Spanish coast aboard his luxurious yacht, “Al Mirqab,” which is known for its luxurious amenities and extravagant setup.
Throughout his stay, Al Thani has posted images of himself enjoying fishing trips and wandering through the charming town of Chefchaouen. He has also applauded the beauty of Morocco’s coastline in comments on his Instagram account.
Northern Morocco’s shores have become a popular destination for global celebrities, with many luxury yachts docking in the region.
According to Forbes, the former PM, aged 64, has a net worth of 2 billion dollars. He also served as foreign minister from 1992 until 2013.
Through an entity called Paramount Services Holdings, Al Thani owns 3% of Deutsche Bank, his biggest publicly traded holding.
In 2016, he was mentioned in the “Panama Papers”–leaked files from Panama law firm Mossack Fonseca, which set up offshore entities for clients.
Morocco has become one of the most popular tourist destinations for international celebrities. Recently, Former Barcelona manager Xavier Hernandez chose Marrakech as a summer vacation.
In addition to Hernandez, Russian tennis icon Maria Sharapova visited Marrakech to celebrate her friend’s birthday, Russian model Kristina Romanova, local media reported.
