A large-scale Police (DGSN) operation in Fez from July 20 to August 22 led to the arrest of 8,144 people. Of those, 3,864 were caught red-handed while 4,280 were wanted under national arrest warrants for various offenses, according to a security source.
Police services also confiscated 195 kilograms of cannabis resin, 832 ecstasy pills, 463 grams of cocaine, and 663 liters of illegal alcohol and Mahia (alcoholic beverage distilled from figs). Police also seized 205 bladed weapons, 275 mobile phones, and 30 vehicles and motorcycles linked to criminal activities.
These operations targeted individuals involved in violent crimes, including thefts, armed assaults, and physical attacks. The crackdown also targeted suspects wanted for financial crimes such as issuing bad checks, fraud, and drug trafficking.
The operation involved multiple police units, including judicial police, public security, and general intelligence services from the Fez Police Directorate.
The National Police’s Research and Interventions Unit and the Territorial Surveillance’s (DGST) intervention team contributed to these arrests by conducting detailed research and field surveys to identify high-crime areas and update lists of wanted individuals.
This security effort is part of a broader strategy by the National Police (DGSN) to prevent crime and improve public safety.
