The Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency (BMAQ) hosted its first camp for people with disabilities as part of its three-week “Summer Schools” program in Al-Quds (East Jerusalem), Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported on Tuesday.
Entitled “Leaders and Aspirations for Change,” the camp is not only raising awareness about the challenges disable people face but facilitating their participation in mainstream society.
Members from the Arab Association for Disabled People in Al-Quds participated in a range of activities designed to enhance their involvement and showcase their talents.
The program’s activities focus on core values such as honesty, perseverance, and community-building, all while supporting family traditions and local identities.
The program offers over 150 workshops in various disciplines, including the arts, drama, theater, and skill-building games, and features interactive workshops and entertainment sessions led by specialized trainers.
4,000 children from 17 Al-Quds-based institutions involved in camping, scouting, and a variety of sports activities, such as basketball and football, have participated in the “Summer Schools” program, which employs the highest safety and security standards to provide a nurturing environment for children aged 6 to 14.
The program is sponsored by the Children for Al-Quds Club, operated by the BMAQ, and funded by the Moroccan Cultural Center Association in Al-Quds.
BMAQ is a quasi-governmental institution focused on humanitarian and social issues in Al-Quds (the Arabic name of Jerusalem). Established in 1998 under the presidency of King Mohammed VI, BMAQ operates under the Al-Quds Committee to safeguard the holy city of Al-Quds, preserving its religious and cultural heritage, and providing support to its inhabitants.
