France’s official gazette published in early August, included Abdellatif Hammouchi, Head of Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance (DGST), reception of the Gold Medal of Honor awarded by the French National Police.
This prestigious accolade recognizes Hammouchi’s exceptional contributions to enhancing security cooperation between Morocco and France. The award was presented during his working visit to France from June 26-28, 2024.
Hammouchi’s visit, which was coordinated by French security officials, sought to bolster bilateral cooperation in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
During his trip, the head of Morocco’s police met with key figures including Celine Berthon, Director General of Internal Security (DGSI), and Nicolas Lerner, Director General of External Security (DGSE). Discussions focused on combating terrorism, organized crime, and improving intelligence sharing.
The meeting with Frédéric Veaux, Director General of the French National Police (DGPN), highlighted advanced cooperation mechanisms, particularly for ensuring security during the Paris Olympics. The emphasis was on proactive information exchange and risk assessments to strengthen joint security efforts.
The award underscores the importance of the ongoing partnership between Morocco and France in addressing shared security challenges. It also reflects Morocco’s commitment to international security cooperation in tackling regional and global threats.
Hammouchi’s previous international honors include Spain’s “Honorary Cross of Police with Red Distinction” in 2014, further cementing his reputation as a key figure in global security efforts.
