Twenty children were admitted to the hospital on Friday for food poisoning after eating dinner at a fast-food outlet in Azla, near Tetouan in northern Morocco.
The victims were immediately transferred to Saniat Rmel Hospital for urgent care.
Medical reports confirmed that the poisoning was due to consuming spoiled food that did not meet health safety standards.
The food poisoning incident follows another in Casablanca, where 26 people were admitted to Sidi Othmane Regional Hospital after eating spoiled Pastilla at a wedding.
It happenned also in Tiznit recently when 38 people suffered food poisoning in June after eating in a snack bar.
In another similar incident, local authorities in Martil, northern Morocco, temporarily closed three fast-food and snack outlets following multiple health violations that were identified by an inspection committee.
These events highlight the critical importance of ensuring that food at snack bars and restaurants is fresh and prepared under strict hygiene conditions.
During hot weather, the risk of food spoilage increases, making it essential for both consumers and vendors to be vigilant about food safety.
Regular checks and adherence to health regulations can prevent such incidents, ensuring public safety and well-being.
During the summer months, the quality of food in tourist destinations often reaches its lowest level due to high temperatures, increasing orders, and insects, among other factors.
