Soukaina Hamdi, a Moroccan assistant referee, has been selected for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
The tournament runs from October 16 to November 3, 2024.
A total of 38 female referees will officiate, including 12 center referees and 24 assistant referees. Hamdi previously officiated at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
FIFA’s Referees Committee, led by Pierluigi Collina, highlighted the tournament’s role in developing young referees. They aim to prepare for Brazil 2027.
The World Cup will utilize video assistant referees (VAR) to review critical decisions like goals, penalties, and red cards. Coaches can request reviews under specific conditions.
Morocco has secured the hosting rights for all five consecutive, annual FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup competitions to be held in 2025-2029
