Egyptian football club Al Ahly is in advanced talks to sign Moroccan defender Achraf Dari from Stade Brestois to bolster their defense and replace Mohamed Abdelmonem, Kingfut said.
The 25-year-old, who joined Brest from Morocco’s club Wydad AC in July 2022, has become a prime target for the Egyptian giants, especially as Mohamed Abdelmonem prepares for a move to Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
Dari’s manager, Abdellatif Flifli, confirmed to ONTime Sports that negotiations between Al Ahly and Dari’s club are well underway. “The talks are advanced, and we hope for a positive outcome,” Flifli stated, adding that “Brest is open to selling Dari, allowed Al Ahly meets their conditions.”
The 25-year-old Moroccan defender joined French club Stade Brestois from Wydad AC in July 2022 for a fee of 2.7 Mln euros and made 24 appearances for the French club.
However, Dari struggled for playing time last season, spending the latter half on loan at Belgian club Royal Charleroi, where he scored three goals in nine appearances.
Dari is already familiar to Al Ahly fans, having been part of the Wydad Casablanca team that defeated the Reds in the 2022 CAF Champions League final.
If the transfer goes through, he could reunite with former teammate Yahia Attiyat Allah, who recently joined Al Ahly on a one-year loan deal.
Moroccan winger Reda Slim is also a current member of the Al Ahly squad, and the African champions are reportedly close to signing Tunisian international Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, further strengthening their lineup.
