The Defender Rally Series will head to North Africa to participate in the renowned Baja Morocco rally between Sept 18-27, navigating the challenging sand dunes of the region.
“The ten-day event, the first of its kind in the Defender Rally Series, promises to be an unforgettable experience, testing both seasoned racers and newcomers alike,” according to the Russian website Noi.
The event’s program kicks off with three days of workshops led by the professional teams of Defender Rally Series and Bowler, including Dakar rally participants.
These workshops will prepare drivers for five days of intense racing over 1,250 km of Morocco’s toughest terrains, including the legendary Merzouga dunes.
Competitors will be driving Defender 90 vehicles, equipped with 300-horsepower engines and specialized systems to handle the harsh conditions of Moroccan dunes.
To ensure participant safety, the event will be supported by a medical helicopter, off-road ambulances, and a professional safety team, with all vehicles tracked by the Stella system used in Baja World Championships.
Organizers assured that “participants will enjoy ten nights of luxury accommodations in Arfoud and Merzouga.”
Bowler Motors CEO Calum Mckechnie noted that “such adventures align with the spirit of the Defender Rally Series, offering drivers and co-pilots a chance to refine their skills.”
Baja Morocco organizer Chris Armalin added that “the course, designed by Seb Delanney, will offer an exciting and progressively challenging route for the racers.”
This is not the only or the first Rally that Morocco holds, the most famous one is “Rally Aïcha des Gazelles“, exclusively for women from all over the world, or “Rally du Maroc”
Not only cars races, Morocco hosts also motorcycling races, such as “Rally of Morocco” motorbikes category, and Morocco Desert Challenge.
