Morocco ranks as one of the most religious countries in the Middle East and North Africa, and the most religious in North Africa, according to a study published this month by the Pew Research Center.
The global study surveyed adults from 102 countries, asking, “How important is religion in your life?” and “How often do you pray?”
According to the findings, Morocco ranks 13th worldwide and first in North Africa based on the percentage of people who consider religion very important in their lives.
Indonesia topped the global list as the most religious country, both in terms of the importance of religion and daily prayer frequency.
Morocco ranks 28th internationally for daily prayer frequency, and fourth in the Arab world, following Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine.
East Asians, along with Western, Central, and Eastern Europeans, were the least likely to view religion as very important to their lives, with Japan falling at the bottom of the list.
The United Kingdom had the lowest percentage of adults who pray daily.
