John Farringdon, recognized as one of the longest-lived men in the world, died “peacefully” earlier this week at the age of 111 in Cubbington Mill Care Home of Leamington Spa, located in Warwickshire, England, according to the BBC.
Born in 1912, Farringdon was the third oldest man in the world, according to the Gerontology Research Group. The current world record is held by John Tinniswood of Liverpool, who was born slightly earlier, though “there are other claims,” BBC reported on Friday.
Farringdon celebrated his 111th anniversary on June 7. He commenced his professional career as a typewriter mechanic before spending 40 years with the Ford Motor Company.
Laura Russell, the manager of Cubbington Mill Care Home, stated that Farringdon was a strong supporter of the Conservative Party and had aspired to serve in Parliament.
A spokesperson for the care home stated that “John’s life was a testament to resilience. His lifelong beliefs and values included forgiveness, chivalry, truthfulness, and optimism.”
The residential care facility extended its deepest condolences and support to the family and friends of the late Farringdon, honoring his memory as that of a “truly exceptional individual.”
