Ichem Zaher, a Dakar-based Moroccan triathlete, intends to make history as the first Moroccan to participate in the Enduroman, an extreme triathlon spanning from London to Paris, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
The event, scheduled for August 19-28, tests competitors to their limits with a 140-kilometer run, a swim of over 40 kilometers across the English Channel, and a bike ride of 300 kilometers to Paris.
Zaher’s participation extends beyond mere athletic competition. He is also engaged in a fundraising initiative for heart surgeries for Senegalese children with congenital defects.
He has participated in multiple Ironman competitions and the “Marathon des Sables” has completed a rigorous training program in preparation for this challenge.
“Beyond the physical prowess, this challenge is a source of pride for me to inspire young Moroccans and athletes around the world to push their limits and believe in their abilities to achieve their goals,” the athlete said.
“The humanitarian dimension lends an even deeper meaning to my commitment and efforts,” he said, adding that “the triathlon is not just a competition, but an ultimate test of human resilience and determination.”
The Enduroman, also known as the “Arch to Arc,” begins at London’s Marble Arch and ends at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, featuring some of the most challenging disciplines in the sport.
