Tetouan in northern Morocco is bringing back the 12th Voix de Femmes Festival on August 22-24, 2024, after a several-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Held under the theme “Women: Essential Partners for Sustainable Change,” the festival seeks to promote the rights and status of Moroccan women, recognizing their crucial role in sustainable development and the modernization of Moroccan society.
It also reflects the festival’s mission to highlight high-level local and international female artists and to promote the values of solidarity, openness, and tolerance.
“The Voix de Femmes Festival is a tribute to female creativity and a celebration of cultural diversity to honor the talent and contributions of women to the development of our society,” Karima Benyaich, the president of the Association Voix de Femmes, said.
Organized by the Association Voix de Femmes, a diverse lineup of female stars from Morocco, Spain, and the Middle East will perform, including Zineb Afilal, Shatha Hassoun, Carole Samaha, Sanaa Marahati, Hind Ziadi, Gispy Queens Generation, Maria Olé Flamenco, Hajar Fezzaka, Youssra Derdabi, Samira Haddouchi, and Hajar Hamouda.
The artists will perform at the Teatro Español de Tétouan, the Centre d’Art Moderne de Tétouan, and the Al Matar main stage.
Key highlights of the festival include a Caravane Santé Pour Tous (Health for All Caravan), which will provide vital healthcare services to vulnerable populations, and solidarity actions aimed at supporting women in the Tetouan prison.
The festival will also celebrate heritage with a caftan fashion show at the Musée des Arts Modernes, showcasing the designs of Samira Haddouchi and Hajar Hamouda, and featuring a performance by singer Sanaa Marahati.
Donations and social initiatives will benefit the residents of the Sidi Frej Centre, underscoring the festival’s commitment to community support and cultural enrichment.
