Budget airline Ryanair has implemented a new boarding policy at select airports, now requiring passengers to present paper boarding passes rather than digital versions on their mobile devices.
This change impacts travelers in several countries, including Morocco, Turkey, and Albania.
In a recent announcement, Ryanair cited the lack of technical infrastructure at certain airports as the reason for the policy shift.
For passengers who arrive at the airport without a printed boarding pass, Ryanair offers the option to print one at the check-in counter.
However, the service comes with an additional fee, potentially leading to unexpected costs for travelers.
The airline has also reminded passengers that extra fees could be applied in other situations, such as failing to check in online before arriving at the airport, requesting ticket modifications, or arriving late for their flight.
The fees are intended to encourage adherence to Ryanair’s check-in policies and minimize disruptions.
Ryanair says that the move is to “adapt to the varying capabilities of different airports while maintaining safety and efficiency in its operations.”
