The city of Nador in northeastern Morocco is hosting the fourth edition of the Arab-African Forum for Sustainable Development and Investment from August 13 to 16, with a focus on women’s economic integration.
This event, held in Morocco for the first time after Egypt hosted it on three consecutive occasions, aims to highlight the crucial role of Arab and African women in driving economic growth and development in their countries.
Forum Director Sanae El Ouariachi told MAP that Nador embodies Morocco’s future vision, thanks to the city’s vast potential and remarkable progress over the past decade.
The forum aims to bring together participants from various countries to discuss the benefits of empowering and integrating women in their country’s economic development, which aims to improve their living conditions while promoting a resilient and sustainable development model.
El Ouariachi added that the event is an excellent opportunity to showcase the investment and tourism opportunities available in the province.
The forum will feature visits to major projects in the city, such as the seaside resort and the Nador West Med Port, and aims to encourage foreign businesspeople and the Moroccan diaspora to invest in Moroccan projects.
Nador, a coastal city in Morocco’s Oriental region, is known for its attractive Mediterranean beaches, which draw in flocks of tourists each year.
The city is also on the cusp of becoming a major economic hub in Morocco, thanks to the construction of the Nador West Med industrial port complex.
The opening ceremony included presentations on investment opportunities in Nador and the incentives available, along with the signing of partnership agreements aimed at encouraging young Moroccans to invest in the artisanal craft sector.
Mohamed Kaddouri, President of the Chamber of Crafts for the Oriental region, highlighted the talent and expertise of Moroccan artisans and the global reputation of Moroccan craftsmanship.
He noted that Moroccan craft exports reached a record high in 2022, confirming the positive trend that has continued since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
