National police (DGSN), in coordination with Marrakech judicial police Territorial Surveillance (DGST), located and rescued a Belgian national who had been kidnapped and held in an apartment in the city on Saturday, August 10, DGSN said in a press release.
On Monday, investigators arrested the alleged kidnappers. The suspects have been identified as a Moroccan and a Franco-Moroccan, aged 34 and 38 respectively. The latter is believed to have coerced the former into abducting the Belgian national, who had wounds indicating violence, including bruises on his body, converging reports stated.
The initial investigation showed that the kidnapping and detention were related to suspicious commercial disputes between the victim and the kidnappers.
The DGSN said in a press release that the primary suspect is involved in an ongoing case concerning forgery for the use of forged documents, and fraud.
The victim has been transferred to a healthcare facility to receive necessary treatment, while the two suspects remain in custody pending further investigation.
