The Saharawi Movement for Peace (MSP) has renewed its call to the separatist Polisario Front for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and a comprehensive and constructive dialogue involving all Sahrawi political factions.
The MSP said that the dialogue should include Polisario representatives, tribal leaders, and members of Sahrawi civil society.
In a recent press release, the MSP reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing a political resolution with Morocco, citing the roadmap outlined at the Dakar conference in late October 2023 as a “promising path toward resolution.”
The movement also urged Sahrawis in the Tindouf camps to avoid getting entangled in the internal disputes of the increasingly fractured Polisario Front. It also called on them to support the MSP in protecting Sahrawi interests and pursuing peace and prosperity in the region.
The Sahrawi Peace movement expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in the United Nations’ political process, pointing out that it has been three years since Staffan de Mistura was appointed as the UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy without any significant developments in the region.
