The Morocco-U.S. joint military exercise, Arcane Thunder 24, concluded on Wednesday at the Southern Zone Headquarters in Agadir. The exercise, which ran from August 5 to 14, 2024, took place across multiple locations including Agadir, Guelmim, Cap Draa, and Tan Tan.
This edition marked the second installment of Arcane Thunder and was the first time it was held in Morocco, involving around 300 participants from both nations.
Arcane Thunder 24 featured a comprehensive program that included academic training and operational phases. The drills encompassed land, air, and maritime scenarios focused on electronic warfare and cybersecurity.
Major General Mohammed Benlouali, Chief of Staff of the Southern Zone, and Major General John Rafferty, Commanding General of the 56th U.S. Army Artillery Command attended the closing ceremony.
During the exercise, the participants utilized advanced equipment, including aerial and maritime drones and high-altitude balloons.
The primary goal of Arcane Thunder 24 was to enhance precision in electronic warfare and to strengthen military capabilities. It aimed to foster improved cooperation, understanding, and coordination between the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the U.S. Army in addressing shared challenges.
This exercise underscored and reinforced the longstanding partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States, providing a valuable platform for deepening their military collaboration.
